Alanis Morissette Reworks 'Jagged Little Pill'

Published: 2005-03-07
It's been 10 years since Alanis Morissette kick started the angry-female-with-guitar movement with her "Jagged Little Pill" album, and the songstress is going to celebrate the event in a very logical way; dropping the angry and upping the guitars. Along with original "Jagged" producer/songwriter Glen Ballard, Morissette has been in the recording studio working on an entirely acoustic version of her classic 1995 album.

The new version of the album is going to be released exactly 10 years to the day after the original "Jagged Little Pill" hit stores, June 13th. However, from June 13th until July 26th it will only be available by taking a walk over to one of North America's many Starbucks franchises and picking up a copy. After that though, the new version of "Jagged Little Pill" will be available through our good ol' record stores.

The track-listing of the acoustic "Jagged Little Pill" will remain the same as the '95 record, but the artwork will be getting a makeover; previously unreleased video footage from the '90s will also make its way onto the disc. Ten years have given us a generally happier and more mature Morissette, and odds are the new recordings of "Ironic", "You Oughta Know", and "Hand In My Pocket" will show that.

Plans are for Morissette to tour the acoustic version of "Jagged Little Pill" through June and July, playing the entire album, as well as throwing in some other tracks from the singer's back catalogue. Later in the year - just in time for the Christmas shopping season - a "greatest hits" album from Morissette will be on its merry way.
