The Shins Tour Behind 'New Slang'

Published: 2005-03-02
It's amazing what a prime spot in "Garden State" can do for an indie band - even more than a McDonald's commercial apparently, and who would've thought that. Albuquerque power pop quartet, and now bona fide rock stars, The Shins know exactly the sort of power a quirky movie can yield, and they're using their newfound notoriety to full advantage.

Although they haven't released a new album since 2003, The Shins are heading out on a mini tour - presumably in support of "Garden State" featured song "New Slang", which has also been given a new video. The track is actually taken from their brilliant 2001 debut "Oh, Inverted World", which has been flying off the shelves like crazy lately. Not too many Shin shows have been announced, but there does happen to be one Canadian stop listed in their ranks.

The Shins will play Toronto in all their glory on Sunday, April 17th, hitting the Kool Haus for an all ages show. Tickets for the gig are available through Ticketmaster, and after all those nasty service charges will cost around $30 a piece.
