U2 Set Up Shop in Vancouver

Published: 2005-02-28
Arguably the biggest band in the world today, U2's upcoming world tour is one of the most anticipated events of the year. Most of the gigs on the tour sold out in a matter of mere minutes, with extra shows being added in cities around the globe. It's safe to say that the hordes of ticket holders are expecting an amazing show, and it's equally safe to say that U2 is going to give it to them.

To make sure their sold-out world jaunt goes off without a hitch, U2 will be rehearsing for an entire month. It's been reported that the band chose Vancouver's own GM Place to take up residence before their North American swing kicks off in San Diego on March 28th. This was all possible thanks to the official end of the NHL season, leaving the stadium empty.

So far just one Canadian city has been confirmed on U2's massive tour - which is quite obviously Vancouver. Plans for the Irish quartet are to have another go at North America after they complete their European leg this summer. Hopefully that means another large block of Canadian cities - Ottawa has already started a campaign for U2 to play the capital.

American four-piece Kings of Leon are to support in North America, with Snow Patrol and The Killers opening the European gigs.

U2's sold-out confirmed Canadian stops:

April 28 Vancouver, BC - GM Place
April 29 Vancouver, BC - GM Place
