Ron Sexsmith, Billy Talent Featured on Juno Compilation

Published: 2005-02-22
On the tails of the "Grammy Nominees 2005" album comes Canada's own kick at the award-show-compilation can. The "Juno Awards 2005" CD can be expected to hit shelves on March 1st, almost exactly one month before the 34th Annual Juno Awards take place in Winnipeg on April 3rd. Filled exclusively with Canada's most successful acts, the third edition of the Juno compilation series features 18 tracks.

The record is marketed to the masses, so the track-listing does its best to be eclectic. Juno staples like Diana Krall, Sara McLachlan, and Celine Dion all have their place on the record, but a few acts that linger outside of the AC genre are featured as well. Internationally celebrated rapper K-OS makes a contribution with "Crabbuckit", and Billy Talent find a spot next to the best-Canadian-band-no-one-but-Canadians-have-heard-of, The Tragically Hip.

Bringing some serious credibility to the compilation is Toronto's Ron Sexsmith, who Elton John called one of the best songwriter's at work in the whole wide world today. The French side of things is represented by Canadian Idol finalist Audrey de Montigny, who added a track called "Meme les Anges". There is one single non-Canadian that slips onto "Juno Awards 2005" - Shania Twain's mega-hit "Party For Two" features American Mark McGrath.

Watch the Juno Awards on Sunday, April 3rd, broadcast live from Winnipeg on CTV. Hosted by comedian Brent Butt, with performances by the likes of Billy Talent, Neil Young, K-OS and k.d. lang, the 34th Annual Juno Awards are completely sold-out.

The track-listing of "Juno Awards 2005" is:

Avril Lavigne - "Don't Tell Me"
Shania Twain ft. Mark McGrath - "Party For Two"
K-OS - "Crabbuckit"
