Advance of The Decemberistsí 2005 Tour

Published: 2005-02-21
Although early plans had The Decemberists hitting only Vancouver this spring, plans have expanded nicely to include Montreal and Toronto on the second leg of the band's 2005 tour. Spanning three months, The Decemberists' "The Advance of the Picaroons Tour 2005" will get underway on March 16th in Eugene, Oregon, with the Vancouver show happening three days later. Toronto and Montreal will be included in the wind down, with the final date set for May 26th in Brooklyn, New York.

The beloved indie rockers are heading out on their ambitious 42-gig tour in support of their upcoming third full-length "Picaresque". Featuring 11 songs, the record is set to drop on March 22nd, with first single "Sixteen Military Wives" preceding the release. "Picaresque" is the follow-up to 2003's "Her Majesty The Decemberists", which succeeded brilliantly in getting the band over the sophomore slump.

Accompanying the American five-piece on the first part of their "Picaroons Tour 2005" (Vancouver) is folk-rock trio Okkervil River, touring in advance of their new LP "Black Sheep Boy", out on April 5th through Jagjaguwar Records. The second leg (Toronto, Montreal) will see singer/songwriter Willy Mason open; he's out promoting his 2004 disc "Where The Humans Eat", which all the UK rags have hailed as genius.

The Decemberists' upcoming stops:

March 19 Vancouver, BC - Richard's On Richards
May 21 Toronto, ON - Lee's Palace
May 22 Montreal, QC - La Sala Rossa
