Britney Spears Wins First Grammy

Published: 2005-02-15
Britney Spears had more than her husband Kevin to celebrate on Valentine's Day, she managed to snag her first Grammy Award this past Sunday in the Best Dance Recording category for her song "Toxic", which was off her 2003 "In the Zone" CD. Spears was previously nominated six times: twice each in 2000, 2001, and 2003.

Other nominees included "Good Luck," by Basement Jaxx featuring Lisa Kekaula; "Get Yourself High," by the Chemical Brothers; "Slow," by Kylie Minogue; and "Comfortably Numb," by Scissor Sisters. A Grammy win for Spears may allow her to be taken more seriously as an artist, rather than reports of kissing Madonna, getting married twice in a year, and walking around public washrooms in bare feet surfacing as her "top news".
