Dizzee Rascal Takes On North America

Published: 2005-02-14
Grime artist Dizzee Rascal is set to bring his English-style rap to the birthplace of gansta rappers and ubiquitous guest stars. Rascal (real name Dylan Mills) ventures to this land in support of his latest album "Showtime", which hit North American shores in September of last year. His 21-date spring tour will take Dizzee on his most extensive visit of the continent yet.

Things will kick off on March 30th in Vancouver, and carry on for a month more with things wrapping up on April 30th in Chicago, Illinois. Three Canadian cities will play host to Dizzee this year: Vancouver at the start, with Montreal and Toronto included in the last four stops.

2004 was the first year North American fans could buy Rascal's albums minus the always lovely import prices. Although his Mercury Prize-winning debut album "Boy In Da Corner" was released in Summer 2003 in his native UK, the album didn't get a North American drop until January 2004. Miles apart from his American counterparts in both location and style, Dizzee has become the face of the London grime underground.
