Mat Kearney Begins Work On Next Album

Published: 2005-02-11
His last full-length album was released just four months ago in October 2004, and already is beginning work on his next. Kearney is currently in the recording studio, working on the follow-up to the 11-track "Bullet". The as-yet-untitled sophomore project will be released through Inpop Records, just like his debut effort.

The difference between now and then however, is that Kearney's music will now be marketed on a grander scale. Kearney has inked a deal with Aware/Columbia Records to handle all general-market promotions and marketing (radio, distribution, etc), while Inpop will still handle the Christian market.

"Undeniable", the first single from "Bullet", has found major success on Christian radio, and Kearney's popularity is bound to grow as his market expands. Not only did Kearney sing and co-write all 11 songs on "Bullet", but he also co-produced the album as well. Kearney's "Bullet" writing and producing partner is Robert Mavin, who has also worked with Out of Eden, tobyMac, and Jump5.

Kearney is spending February on the road with the Graham Colton Band, and plans to head out on tour this spring alongside Mute Math.

Mute Math's Canadian stop is on May 15th in Waterloo, Ontario at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.
