Chris Rice Releases Live Album, Hits the Studio

Published: 2005-02-10
Maryland singer/songwriter Chris Rice is ready to head back into the recording studio this March to begin work on his fifth studio album. The as-yet-untitled project will be the follow-up to "Run The Earth, Watch The Sky", which was released in February 2003. Although Rice hasn't released a studio album for two years, he just released a live album called "Snapshots: Live and Fan Favourites" this past Tuesday (February 8th).

Although Rice's last four releases have been on the Rocketown label, his upcoming effort will be put out as a joint effort between INO Records and Eb+Flo Records, which has a very eclectic roster. If all goes well, Rice's newest album should be available for purchase in August 2005.

Before he began a career as a recording artist, Rice was well-known for his skilful songwriting. He was responsible for the outstanding Kim Boyce single "By Faith", Michael W. Smith's "Welcome to Our World", and Amy Grant's "Missing You"; he was even named Songwriter of the Year in 1995 by American Songwriter Magazine. Rice's recording career began in 1996 when he signed to Michael W. Smith's label, and released his debut album "Deep Enough To Dream".

The track-listing of "Snapshots: Live and Fan Favourites" is:

"Deep Enough to Dream" (live)
"Sometimes Love" (live)
"Big Enough" (live)
"Hallelujahs" (live)
"Prone to Wander" (live)
"Cartoons" (live)
"Billy Joe McGuffery"
"Calling Out Your Name"
"Nothing' "
"Questions for Heaven"
"Me & Becky"
"Everything's OK"
"Great Is Thy Faithfulness"
"Welcome To Our World"

Chris Rice has a few performances scheduled for 2005, but currently none are in Canada. Check his official site ( for constant updates.
