Oasis To Play Toronto In June

Published: 2005-02-10
This June Brit-pop giants Oasis will head across the Atlantic on their first North American tour in three long years. The Gallagher brothers will be making just one stop in Canada - June 17th in Toronto - with the other four shows falling in the United States. Tickets for all five shows go on sale this Saturday (February 12th) through Ticketmaster for about $20-50 a pop.

Australian quartet Jet landed the lucky spot as opener for Oasis. The garage rockers are currently promoting their debut album "Get Born", which was released in autumn 2003.

Oasis will be making their return to North America in order to support their brand new album. The project is still without an official title (rumours include "Don't Believe The Truth"), but it should see release internationally on May 16th. The record will be Oasis' sixth studio album, and the follow-up to 2002's "Heathen Chemistry".

Plans are to have a track-listing of 11-12 songs, with song titles including "The Importance of Being Idle", "Guess God Thinks I'm Able" and "Part of the Queue". All four members - Noel & Liam Gallagher, Andy Bell, and Gem Archer - wrote songs for the record, with Noel Gallagher telling BBC Radio 1 that "The finished album is my favourite one of the last four."

Oasis' one-off Canadian date:

June 17 Toronto, ON - Molson Amphitheatre
