Coldplayís First North American Gig of 2005 In March

Published: 2005-02-03
Recently, British quartet Coldplay has been spending most of their time holed up in the recording studio, creating what will become their third full-length album. Although the LP isn't even finished yet, it's certainly already one of the most anticipated releases of 2005. At a gig last week in London, UK Coldplay showcased some of their new songs, and soon North American audiences will get their chance to hear the new material.

On March 12th Coldplay, along with Aqualung and Nellie McKay, will play a benefit for California public radio station KCRW. Dubbed 'A Sounds Electric Evening' the concert proceeds will go to help keep KCRW "the most influential radio station in America" running. Known for its commitment to new and emerging artists, KCRW was the very first station to play Coldplay in America, and the band have had a strong relationship with KCRW ever since.

The as-yet-untitled third album from Coldplay is expected to be released sometime later this year. According to, some of the song titles to be included on the follow-up to 2002's 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' are: 'Square One', 'Talk', 'Till Kingdom Come', 'X&Y', 'What If', and 'The Hardest Part'.

Of the new record, Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin has said: "We've got some f#*@**% good songs. That's one thing we are sure of. I don't think we'll top this. I always say that, but this time I really mean it. I really don't think we'll top it."
