Not much longer will they be Canada's best kept secret, for Toronto quartet Oliver Black has inked a worldwide multi-album deal with New York's TVT Records. The rockers now find themselves labelmates with the likes of Snoop Dogg & Tha Eastsidaz, Sevendust, and fellow Canadians, Default; an eclectic mix to say the least. Distribution in Canada will be taken care of by Universal Music.
Now that they've found a home for their music, the next step for Oliver Black is putting their songs to wax. The four-piece are set to begin pre-production any day now, and plan to have the record wrapped up for a late spring/early summer release. At the moment the producer of the project remains a mystery, but signed on to produce a song called 'The Cool' is Daniel Lanois. You might have heard his work: y'know, 'The Joshua Tree', 'Achtung Baby', 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb'Öthe rest of U2's albums.
Fronted by Serena Pruyn, Oliver Black have already made a big name for themselves through their incendiary live performances. They'll be taking their show on the road later this year, ripping it up at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Not to worry though, before they lock themselves in the studio, Oliver Black will play a few shows in Canada.
