Osbournes, Pink, Groban Cover Clapton for Tsunami Relief

Published: 2005-01-20
Along with a few of their friends, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne will contribute to the Southeast Asia tsunami relief fund in the most appropriate way possible: a charity single. The plans are to cover Eric Clapton's classic tear-jerker of a ballad 'Tears In Heaven' with an all-star line-up. All proceeds will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee's Tsunami Earthquake Appeal.

The styles of the artists signed-up for the cover span right across the board. Bringing the wild side of things are Ozzy, legendary rocker Steven Tyler (of Aerosmith), and Velvet Revolver. On the other side of the spectrum you've got AC artists Elton John, Rod Stewart, and Robbie Williams. Undeniable vocal credit comes along with opera singer Andrea Bocelli and vocalist Josh Groban. Holding up the female side of things are Kelly Osbourne, Pink, and Gwen Stefani.

With the amount of star-power going into the single, it'd be impossible to get all of the performers into a one room. Therefore the recording of 'Tears In Heaven' will happen on two continents, at studios in London and in Los Angeles. Sharon Osbourne and 'American Idol' meanie Simon Cowell are lined-up to produce the song. There's no word yet on when the new cover of 'Tears In Heaven' will be released.
