Already one of the most popular events in the punk rock community, the Vans Warped Tour is adding some major ammo to its line-up for 2005. The wildly successful Offspring will be adding their veteran selves to the Warped Tour mix, which is now entering its 11th year. Not the only act destined to draw crowds, The Offspring will be joined by the likes of other confirmed bands like Travis Barker and Tim Armstrong's side-project The Transplants, punks Thrice, emo heroes My Chemical Romance, and Chicago quartet Fall Out Boy
Many of the bands, including The Transplants, will be joining the Warped Tour to promote new albums, but at this point it's not known whether or not The Offspring have something up their sleeves. Thrice and My Chemical Romance will continue to tour in support of their albums 'The Artist in the Ambulance', and the highly popular 'Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge', respectively.
The Vans Warped Tour generally hits a few of Canada's major centres, including Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montreal. The travelling festival continues to find great success in a time where ticket sales for live shows seem to be mighty dismal. Tour founder Kevin Lyman had this to say back in October at the What Teens Want festival in Los Angeles: "We've learned not to mess with the brand too much. The formula when we started was to have a backyard party, and that's what this tour is all about. After 10 years we've kept that same atmosphere."
So, give the kids what they want, then.
