George Stroumboulopoulos Debuts The Hour

Published: 2005-01-18
Young or old, we're a generation in need of fresh ideas. Former Much Music VJ, George Stroumboulopoulos has hit the Canadian Broadcasting Company with a talk show that functions more as a gateway for new ideas than savvy small talk. Having traveled to countries like the Sudan and Zambia to film documentaries about the horrors of war and poverty, Stroumboulopoulos wants to hold a mega-phone to what Canada has to say, and, needs to hear.

The first show features Bob Geldof, former lead singer of the Boomtown Rats and founder of Live Aid discussing charitable efforts for the tsunami in South Asia, followed by a segment on the state of hockey. Stroumboulopoulos reported to CBC, "People who like hard news also want to know what happened with Brad [Pitt] and Jennifer [Aniston]," he said of the recently separated celebrity couple. "But there are smart and interesting and compassionate ways to have these discussions." The Hour airs at 8pm Monday-Thursday on CBC.

Good luck, you will need it. Everybody is a critic. Keep up the 'out of the box' thinking and you will be fine.

George is a breath of fresh air. He treat's everyone as his equal. It's very rare to see this in a world of phony people. I love the show & especially his honesty. I admire & respect him immensly !
