Canadian Idol Is Cominí A-Knocking

Published: 2005-01-14
It's that time of year again folks. It's time to warm up the old vocal chords, and grab a sleeping bag to wait in a gigantic line for a chance to be the next Canadian Idol. The hunt begins next month, with the judges travelling to all the provinces and one territory, hitting a total of 13 cities in all. Obviously Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal will be hit up for their local singing talent, but cities bypassed in previous years will have their chance to shine in the spotlight this time around.

London, Whitehorse, Sudbury, and Moncton are all on the Canadian Idol 2005 road map for the very first time. It's not easy to be a city holding an Idol audition however. As avid fans know, the turnout for the competition is monstrous, with hopefuls travelling across provinces for their shot at moving through Tier 1 (the audition) to Tier 2 (a date with judges Sass Jordan, Jake Gold, Farley Flex, and Zack Werner) and if all goes well, becoming the third Canadian Idol.

Last year's winner was Kalan Porter, who hails from Medicine Hat, Alberta. At the moment Porter is touring the country to sold out shows to promote his debut album '219 Days', which appeared on the top of the album charts for over a month.

Anyone between the ages of 16 and 26 is welcome to try out in the following cities on the following dates:

Vancouver, BC - February 11
Calgary, AB - February 16
Saskatoon, SK - February 21
Whitehorse, YT - February 26
