22-20s Get Released, Take on North America

Published: 2005-01-13
British buzz band The 22-20s are finally going to get the opportunity to make some noise on North American shores. The four-piece has created quite a stir with their live shows, and even landed a spot as headliner on the NME Awards Tour last year. After building up a following with their stage show, Lincoln's The 22-20s did the logical thing and recorded their self-titled debut album, which was released in September 2004 in the UK.

The record is currently only available in North America through the always expensive import route, but music fans will be able to save a chunk of change if they wait a few months. American label Astralwerks picked up The 22-20's debut for a domestic release, and is aiming the record for release on April 19th, 2005.

The UK track-listing of The 22-20s eponymous debut:

'Devil In Me'
'Such A Fool'
'Baby Brings Bad News'
'22 Days'
'Why Don't You Do It For Me?'
'Shoot Your Gun'
'The Things That Lovers Do'
'I'm The One'
'Hold On'

Astralwerks is also responsible for releasing the band's 6-song EP '05/03' in North America, which hit stores back in September 2003. Before The 22-20s had inked any record deals though, they went through a bidding war of epic proportions. Following the hype of the blues-rock quartet's live shows, labels went into an unprecedented frenzy to sign the band (Heavenly won). Probably good to note all four members were teenagers at the time.

To support the American release of their debut album, The 22-20s plan to tour the USA. When and whether or not Canada is included is another matter. To hear what all the fuss is about, go to Astralwerk's site: www.astralwerks.com or visit the band's official web site at: www.22-20s.com.
