First Willie Nelson Career Retrospective

Published: 2005-01-12
There aren't many country artists that get bigger than Willie Nelson, especially when it comes to lasting in the music world. The man has been in the business for over 40 years, and to celebrate that giant feat, Nelson will be releasing a career retrospective next month. Set to hit stores on February 15th, the simply titled 'Songs' will feature 20 tracks - from his 1961 'Crazy' demo to his latest studio album.

The tracks included on 'Songs' provide at definitive look at Nelson's career, and include all of his most beloved hits. Six different record labels housed Nelson at one time or another, and with duets from the likes of LeAnne Womack to BB King, just getting the songs on one disc is miraculous in itself. Also included in the liner notes of 'Songs' is an essay by Colin Escott; a country music historian.

Some of the tracks included on 'Songs' are: 'Crazy' (which is the same song that Patsy Cline turned into a standard), 'Yesterday's Wine', 'Whiskey River', 'Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain', 'Always On My Mind', 'My Own Peculiar Way', 'Night Life', 'Mendocino County Line', and 'On The Road Again'.

In other Willie Nelson news, the legendary singer is doing his part to aid the Tsunami relief effort. Earlier in January he and a few of his friends put on a benefit concert in Austin, Texas, which sold out in less than seven hours.
