New Order Release Details On New Album

Manchester new wave giants New Order have released more details on their highly anticipated new studio album. The record has been named 'Waiting For The Sirens Call', and will be released March 28th in the UK, with a North America release presumably following shortly thereafter.

The first single to be lifted from 'Waiting For The Sirens Call', the band's eighth full-length, is a track called 'Krafty', which will hit stores two weeks before the full LP. Other songs that will appear on the album are: 'Jetstream' and 'Sugarcane'.

New Order is calling 'Waiting For The Sirens Call' dancier than their previous effort 'Get Ready' (released 2001), with lead singer Bernard Sumner providing more saccharine vocals than usual. The band recorded the record in the city of Bath, with Stephen Street (The Smiths, Psychedelic Furs) and John Leckie (XTC, The Fall) working their magic behind the boards.

A line-up change has also taken place within the ranks of New Order. Keyboardist Gillian Gilbert was forced to leave the band to care for her sick daughter, and guitarist Phil Cunningham has now replaced her as a full time member.
