The Futureheads Return To North America

Published: 2005-01-11
A surprising amount of the new influx of British bands has been relatively successful in the land of North America, including the touring circuit. Historically the American market hasn't been very kind to our friends across the pond, but in the wake of groups like Franz Ferdinand and Snow Patrol, things are looking a bit brighter. Art-rock quartet The Futureheads is another act that has a bright future ahead of them in this land of ours, and they're planning on returning to this continent once again.

They first came over as openers for Franz Ferdinand, but this time around they're lining up audiences on their own merits. Following the wrap of the Shockwaves NME Awards Tour 2005, of which they are a part, The Futureheads will 'head' over to the USA. Kicking off February 21st in Washington, DC, the tour will see the Sunderland boys play 18 shows before finishing up in Dallas, Texas on March 19th.

As the band supports their self-titled debut in North America this winter, they will hit just two cities north of the 49th parallel. The Futureheads will be enjoying the Canadian winter in Montreal on February 26th and in Toronto on the following evening. For those lucky enough to be in Texas this March, the tour also includes a performance at the 2005 SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas.

The Futureheads' upcoming shows:

February 26 Montreal, QC - El Salon
February 27 Toronto, ON - Lee's Palace
