Brian Wilson Cellist Missing Following Tsunami

Published: 2005-01-06
With the entire world feeling the tragedy of last month's monstrous tsunami, legendary musician Brian Wilson is one of the many that are experiencing the ordeal on a personal level. Markus Sandlund, a cellist who appeared on the reworking of the legendary lost Beach Boys album 'SMiLE' is one of the missing following the disaster.

The 29-year-old cellist from the Stockholm Strings & Horns went to Thailand to celebrate Christmas with his girlfriend Sofi, who was rescued and is now in a hospital in Sweden. Sandlund has not been heard from since the tsunami on December 26th, and Wilson is trying to find out Sandlund's whereabouts.

In a statement Wilson said: "I have been devastated since I heard the news that Markus is missing in Thailand. We have sent an agent to see what we can find out, but as of today (Jan. 4) we have been unable to locate Markus in the area. If there is anyone out there who might know Markus' whereabouts please contact: info@brianwilson.com."

He then added, "My prayers go out to all of the victims and their families and I would ask you to say a prayer for Markus' safe return."
