Sleater-Kinney Get Back On the Road

Published: 2005-01-03
Before their new full-length is released, punk band Sleater-Kinney have decided to hit the highway and make sure their performance muscles are still in tip-top shape. The girls have five dates scheduled as a prelude to their upcoming world tour, and just because everyone loves Canada in the winter time, the trio will play a one-off date north of their native border - although they did choose to play their February 28th show in Vancouver, so snow might be avoided altogether.

The other four performances that Sleater-Kinney will be putting on before their new record drops will happen in the USA - two in New York City, and two in their home town of Portland, OR.

While fans can get their live Sleater-Kinney fix in just a few weeks, the wait will be a bit longer for their new album. Set to drop at the end of May, the as-yet-untitled record will be the punk rockers' seventh effort, and their first for their new label, Sub Pop Records. They've been in the recording studio since December creating the follow-up to 'One Beat', which was released through long-time label Kill Rock Stars in 2002. Sitting behind the boards on the project is producer Dave Fridmann, who is known for his work with The Flaming Lips, Mogwai, and Mercury Rev.

Sleater-Kinney's upcoming Canadian stop:

February 28 Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom
