The Pixies Stay on Track

Published: 2004-12-22
Now that they've gotten back together it seems like The Pixies are going non-stop. As everyone in the music world knows, the seminal '80s band played a series of reunion dates all over the world, which promptly sold out in record time. Now that they've wrapped up their eight-month-long comeback tour, the members of The Pixies will keep on giving to their fans.

First up are two DVDs from the rockers: one featuring concert footage taken from six or seven shows, and the other a documentary. The band had camera crews with them for the duration of their tour, which caught action both on and off the stage. How the DVDs will be marketed is still undecided, as Pixies manager Ken Goes told Billboard: "There is a possibility that these two DVDs will be combined into one double-disc set, but that is not yet confirmed."

While The Pixies put a few new tracks on the net earlier in the year, there have been no announcements that the quartet has plans to get back in the recording studio and create a new full-length. If such a thing happened, it would be the Boston band's first studio album together since 1991's 'Trompe le Monde'.

Not only will Pixies DVDs be hitting shelves sometime in the near future, but frontman Frank Black and bassist Kim Deal also have solo albums in the works. Black plans to release not one, but two separate records, which he recorded earlier this year. Deal is heading back to the recording studio with her other band, which goes by the name of The Breeders, to record the follow-up to the 2000 album 'Title TK'.
