New Releases For After Christmas

For music fans who love greatest hits collections and boxed sets, 2004 will be a banner year. Several of the major record labels are planning to release a number of re-issue collections in the first few months of 2004. The British Invasion and the birth of rock 'n' roll are being celebrated with the release of CD collections. A Black Sabbath collection with the original members is being released in March. Judas Priest and Johnny Cash have anthologies being released. Another bootleg Dylan concert is also on the way. Dave Brubeck has a five CD set containing numerous previously unreleased material that will also be hitting stores soon.

Among the list of re-issued works are the Eurythmics, George Harrison, Fleetwood Mac, Echo and the Bunnymen, Emmylou Harris, Elvis Costello, Boyz II Men, Weezer and Bob Marley. Deluxe editions of "American Graffiti", "Big Chill", and "Easy Rider" are also planned.

Kicking off the year of the re-issue and collections is David Bowie on January 13 with the release of "Black Tie + White Noise". It looks like Christmas really is all year 'round for the recording industry.
