Ani DiFranco Readies New Album

Published: 2004-12-22
Adding to her already impressive output early next year is anti-folk singer Ani DiFranco. The singer's fourteenth studio album is due to hit stores on January 25th. It's being called 'Knuckle Down', and instead of self-producing the album as she did for all of her other releases, DiFranco invited singer/songwriter Joe Henry behind the boards to help out.

'Knuckle Down' is the follow-up to 2004's 'Educated Guess', which received lukewarm reviews. Unlike her last album, DiFranco is joined by a slew of musicians on 'Knuckle Down'. While she chose to play all of the instruments on the 'Educated Guess', her new record features the likes of Todd Sickafoose (bass) and Julie Wolf (melodica), among many others.

DiFranco is set to head out on tour in February/April to support 'Knuckle Down'. While the later dates and venues haven't been confirmed yet, Toronto is on DiFranco's hit list for April 15th.

Few people in the music world can keep up with Ani DiFranco's pace. There hasn't been a year that hasn't seen a new DiFranco release (and sometimes two) since her 1991 sophomore release 'Not So Soft'. The only time there was ever a gap of more than a year between DiFranco's albums was between 'Not So Soft' and her 1989 self-titled debut.

The track-listing of 'Knuckle Down':

'Knuckle Down'
'Studying Stones'
'Sunday Morning'
'Seeing Eye Dog'
'Lag Time'
