Dave Navarro Forms The Panic Channel

Amid the rumors and speculation about the demise of Jane's Addiction, guitarist Dave Navarro has formed another band. Called The Panic Channel, the formation of this band appears to be the final death knell for Jane's Addiction, which has lain dormant for quite some time now. There has been no official announcement of the band's demise from either the label or the band itself, but a blog entry from Navarro and Jane's Addiction bassist Chris Chaney and drummer Stephen Perkins (who have both joined Navarro in the new project along with vocalist/guitarist Steve Isaacs) posted this past summer would suggest that the band's days are numbered, if not expired. The sheer fact that everyone in Jane's Addiction save for singer Perry Farrell would suggest where the rift lies. In the blog entry Navarro offered this cryptic glimpse into the band's inner turmoil:

"The deal is that it simply didn't work out. Sometimes things just don't work out. In all honesty, we have broken up and rejoined roughly four times over the years. Perhaps that should shed some light as to where we are now. We really don't know."

Navarro goes on to elaborate further on some of the reasons why things didn't work out for the band this time around, while still remaining elusive, stating "Why didn't it work out? So many reasons. Some of them over 15 years old, some of them new and none of them worth mentioning. Maybe we are just a volatile combination. Maybe that is why we were so great. The bottom line is that we are all extremely creative and motivated people and I know we will all continue to create and work on many different projects."

The Panic Channel have played three shows thus far, most recently gracing the famed Key Club in Los Angeles on December 2nd after two shows at the Dragonfly Club, also in the city of angels. The band spent most of October in the studio, according to Isaacs, but so far no release date for the debut album has been set. They will reportedly spend the rest of December writing new songs and close out the year with more recording with producer Brian Virtue.

Maybe Perry just didn't want to hang out with Dave and Carmen anymore, and really who can blame him?
