Alanis Morissette to Star in Mockumentary Series

Published: 2004-12-15
There has been an overload of rock documentaries and biopics lately, but just not enough of the almighty rock mockumentary. That's about to change as there is a new television series in the works that will pay homage to the genre 'This Is Spinal Tap' created over two decades ago.

The Comedy Central series is called 'We're With The Band', and will follow the life of a popstar on tour. Staring in the show is none other than Canada's own Alanis Morissette, who knows a thing or two about life on the road. At Maverick Records' site (http://www.maverick.com/alanis/quicktime/wwtb/ ) you can watch a short film called 'We're With The Band', which is presumably what the series is based on.

For those who don't know, 'Spinal Tap', the classic Rob Reiner movie that started it all, found life back in 1984. The mockumentary follows the life of a British hair-metal band that's trying to make it in a land called the United States of America. The drummer-challenged band is played by funny-men Christopher Guest, Michael McClean, and Harry Shearer, who take a documentary filmmaker played by Rob Reiner on a whirlwind adventure on tour. Hilarity ensues.
