Ash's 'Meltdown' Gets N. American Release

Published: 2004-12-13
It's been ten years since their debut album was released, and Irish quartet Ash still has yet to make a dent in the American music market. Maybe with this momentous anniversary the alt-rock band will finally be able to crack the notoriously vicious market. After massive success in the UK, their fifth LP 'Meltdown' has finally been given a North American release date.

Set to hit shelves on this side of the Atlantic on March 8th, 'Meltdown' looks like its Ash's best chance to break America yet. Tied to America in more ways than one, the four-piece even packed up and flew off to LA to record with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver) so they could create in "a place where rock music is really alive".

The result was 'Meltdown', an 11-track album that sonically sits somewhere between their self-confessed mess-of-an-album 'Nu-Clear Sounds' and smash-hit 2002 comeback 'Free All Angels'. Included on 'Meltdown' are three singles that rocked the UK, which Ash are hoping will do just the same over here: 'Clones', 'Starcrossed', and most recent single 'Renegade Cavalcade'.

Canadian fans can get their hands on 'Meltdown' before it's officially released in North America; the album has been available on import since its UK release in June 2004. However, the few months wait might be worth it, as the US version includes exclusive bonus tracks as well as DVD footage.

The track-listing of 'Meltdown':

'Meltdown'
'Orpheus'
'Evil Eye'
'Clones'
'Starcrossed'
'Out of the Blue'
'Renegade Cavalcade'
'Detonator'
'On a Wave'
'Won't Be Saved'
'Vampire Love'

Following the release of 'Meltdown' in North America, Ash will persevere and play a Spring US tour in support of the album. There's no word on whether there will be any Canadian stops on the jaunt as of yet. In addition to once again attempting to win over American hearts, Ash is already planning their next full-length album, which is expected to be a softer, acoustic-like affair.
