The first half of 2005 is shaping up to be a great time to catch stadium shows, with Sarah McLachlan, U2, and Sting all getting active after winter's slumber. Another act making the rounds come the New Year is Duran Duran, who are set to embark on an extensive excursion of North America. The influential '80s band, who made a comeback earlier this decade, will feature their original line-up on the tour.
Following a short tour of Japan in January, Duran Duran will head West, kicking off the North American leg of their tour off in Puerto Rico on February 8th. So far the quintet has 40 performances scheduled, which will take them all the way into the month of April, where they will finish up in New York City on the 13th. During the band's tour, Duran Duran will make a total of 5 Canadian stops, visiting both sides of the country.
The New Wave band will be out supporting their most recent full-length release, 'Astronaut'. The record was put on shelves in October 2004, to some less than favourable reviews. However, Duran Duran are best loved for their earlier work, including their 1981 self-titled debut, and 1982's 'Rio', which contained major hits like the title track and everybody's favourite, 'Hungry Like The Wolf'.
Duran Duran's upcoming Canadian stops:
March 4 Vancouver, BC - GM Place
March 7 Calgary, AB - Pengrowth Saddledome
March 8 Kelowna, BC - Prospera Place
April 5 Toronto, ON - Air Canada Centre
April 6 Montreal, QC - Bell Centre
