Celebrate The Holidays With The Barenaked Ladies

Published: 2004-12-07
As part of their winter tour of North America, Toronto quintet Barenaked Ladies will play two hometown shows this December. The two consecutive dates will be the alt-pop band's only performances in their native land, but they have quite a few around the USA. Their tour kicked off this past Monday (December 6th) in New York City, and the two Toronto shows on December 20th & 21st will be BNL's final performances of the year 2004.

Not only will The Ladies be playing two dates in Toronto, but they're also staying two nights each in New York, New York and Boston, Massachusetts, as well. The comedic musicians have a total of 12 gigs lined-up for the month; they'll be in the States for Hanukkah, but the dates closest to Christmas Day are reserved for their hometown crowd.

This is fitting enough, as the five-piece is out touring during the holiday season in order to support their newly released holiday record. Called what else but 'Barenaked For The Holidays', the rockers tried their hands at a few traditional songs as well as tunes by contemporary artists. Included on the 20-track record are covers of Paul McCartney's 'Wonderful Christmastime', and Bob Geldof and Midge Ure's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'.

The track-listing of 'Barenaked For The Holidays':

'Jingle Bells'
'Green Christmas'
'I Saw Three Ships'
'Hanukkah Blessings'
'O Holy Night'
'Elf's Lament'
'Do They Know It's Christmas?'
'Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah'
'God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/We Three Kings'
'Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer'
'Carol of the Bells'
