The Cureís ëThree Imaginary Boysí Gets a Makeover

Published: 2004-12-07
Today (December 7th) fans of seminal '80s band The Cure will be able to pick up their own revamped copy of the band's debut album 'Three Imaginary Boys'. The album that started it all has reached its 25th birthday - it was released in June of 1979. Part of Rhino Records ongoing project of restoring and re-issuing The Cure's back catalogue, 'Three Imaginary Boys' has undergone a makeover, coming out on the other side with an extra disc to boot.

The first disc of the deluxe edition of 'Three Imaginary Boys' contains the original audio album, but this time minus the feedback, meaning a crisper sound that lets the listener enjoy each note to its full and mighty potential. Included on the second disc of the set are a variety of odds and ends. Rarities, demos, B-sides, outtakes, and live performances can all be found on the 'Three Imaginary Boys' bonus disc. Also making an appearance in the new packaging are two beloved non-album A-sides: 'Jumping Someone Else's Train' and 'Boys Don't Cry'.

Adding to the goods included with the revamped version of 'Three Imaginary Boys' that Cure fans crave is a 16-page album sleeve. The booklet includes liner notes from Johnny Black (a respected British rock writer), track commentary, and unseen photographs from frontman Robert Smith's personal archives.
