Rock’s Golden Anniversary

Published: 2003-12-19
Two cities oceans apart have had the largest impact on Rock'n'Roll music as we know it today. It was in 1954 that Elvis Presley recorded "That's All Right" in Memphis. It was the first of many hit singles to come. The hip shaking country boy had a big influence on two young mop tops across the seas. Ten years later Liverpool England's greatest export landed on American shores and Rock'n'Roll was changed forever.

Next year is the golden anniversary of Rock'n'Roll. To mark the occasion Memphis, Tennessee and Liverpool, England are planning a series of celebrations including the summer pops season and the Market Street Festival.
