Silverstein Gear Up For Britain

Published: 2004-11-29
Originally started as a side project, the members of Ontario's Silverstein ended up making the emo band their number one priority. Focusing on Silverstein makes sense, as things are really taking off (no pun intended) for the five-piece. They'll be jetting across the Atlantic early next year to kick-off their very first UK tour, but before that happens, Canadian fans will be able to catch the band on home turf.

Two out of three of Silverstein's upcoming shows are scheduled for January, but before the year finishes out the post-hardcore quartet is set to play a hometown gig which will help them rack up some good karma points. Along with four other bands, Silverstein will play the '2nd Annual Sponsorship Show' for the Burlington YMCA on December 17th. Tickets for show are just $10 at the door, with all proceeds going to charity. The other bands included on the bill are: Cursed, The Fullblast, The Turn It Ups, and Navy.

During their month long adventure in Britain (and their 3 Canadian shows), Silverstein will be promoting 'When Broken Is Easily Fixed', their debut full-length album. The 10-track record was originally released in 2003, but was recently re-released in September 2004 through Victory Records with 2 extra songs, and bonus DVD footage. Previous to 'When Broken Is Easily Fixed' the quartet independently released two EPs; 'Summer's Stellar Gaze' and 'When The Shadows Beam' in 2000 and 2002, respectively.

Before they head off to the UK, the members of Silverstein will be busy writing material for their next release. The band expects to begin recording their sophomore full-length sometime next year.

Silverstein's upcoming Canadian performances:

December 17 Burlington, ON - Burlington YMCA (Gymnasium)
January 7 St. Catharines, ON - Red Square
January 8 London, ON - The Embassy
