One of Canada's premiere funk bands has teamed up with the Godfather of Soul (who is quite funky himself) for the hands-down funkiest tour of the year. That's right, accompanying the legendary James Brown as he traipses across the land of Canada is Ontario's own jacksoul. As he supports Brown, jacksoul (aka Haydain Neale) will be promoting his newest album 'Resurrected'.
Earlier this year Brown announced six performances, but it's been expanded to include 10 stops across the country. The first gig actually happens tonight (November 25th) in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with the tour ending up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on December 9th. In addition to his time with James Brown, jacksoul also has some solo dates set in their sights. These headlining shows won't be happening until the spring of 2005 though, so it would be wise for those jonesing for some jacksoul to check him out during his opening spot for Brown.
'Resurrected' the latest effort from jacksoul was released into the world earlier this year on May 25th. The album features 13 tracks, which were all written or co-written by Neale. So far there have been three singles lifted from the soul-filled disc; the latest is called 'The River', and can be heard on radio around the country.
