Snapcase Snaps

After over 10 years of playing the masses with their brand of progressive hardcore, Buffalo, New York's Snapcase have called it quits. The band has plans for one final hometown show in January before things are officially over. No reason has been given thus-far for the breakup.

Snapcase's cerebral approach to aggressive music was a breath of fresh air in a sometimes stagnant genre, often overcrowded with bands barking about broken homes and beat downs. Shunning the down-tuned, palm-muted chug favoured by so many of hardcore's finest, Snapcase instead utilized complex guitar lines and harmonic distortion while espousing lyrics about self-determination and personal challenge.

Snapcase fans can take solace in the fact that three members of the band have a side project entitled "Ourselves" in the works. Right now they are in the process of demoing new material and looking for a vocalist. Anyone interested in auditioning as a vocalist are encouraged to contact Ourselves at
