Barry Canning Performs In The East

Published: 2004-11-24
Hailing from St. John's, Newfoundland, singer/songwriter Barry Canning has a slew of performances scheduled over the next few months. Canning has reached far into his future, and currently has dates lined-up until February 2005, with most of them taking place on the East Coast of Canada. A veteran musician, this time around Canning is out supporting his newest album 'Last Man Standing'.

In addition to penning quite a few songs on his lonesome, Canning co-wrote a few of the tracks of 'Last Man Standing' with another popular East Coaster - Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea, who also produced the disc. For the 11-track album Canning recently picked up three awards at the Music Industry Association of Newfoundland and Labrador ceremony earlier this month. Not only that, but Doyle and Canning won the Socan Songwriter of the Year for their song 'Last Man Standing'.

Released earlier this year, 'Last Man Standing' is Canning's third full-length album. Before 'Last Man Standing' came into the world, Canning received quite a bit of attention with his last record. Titled 'Soul Parade' (released 2001), the 12-track album solidified Canning's place as a great songwriter and saw him play alongside the likes of Ron Sexsmith, Jimmy Rankin, and Great Big Sea.
