Keane Expand Canadian Tour

Published: 2004-11-24
British trio Keane are apparently acquiring quite a taste for touring across the large expanse of land that is North America. The band's very first tour of 2005 will take place in North America, with a total of 16 stops scheduled so far. Kicking off on January 24th in Dallas, Texas, Keane will stick mainly to the eastern half of the continent this time around; the last gig is set to happen on February 21st in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Although there are just two Canadian dates on the band's 2005 tour, Keane will actually be playing three shows in the country in the next few months. Before breaking for the holidays, the trio is hopping back to North America to play two gigs in December. One of these performances is set for San Francisco, and the other for Canada's own sunny spot: Vancouver.

Keane will continue to support their debut album 'Hopes and Fears' in the coming year. The album was a break-out smash in Britain, and its popularity continues to grow in North America, mostly due to their first single 'Somewhere Only We Know'. Although the trio put out their first album in the spring of '04, they've actually been around quite a long time. Originally a quartet formed in 1997, the ball started to roll for Keane after their guitarist left the group in 2002.

In other Keane news, the trio is preparing to release their fourth single in the UK, a land where singles are vastly more important than in North America. It's called 'This Is The Last Time', and will hit British record stores on November 22nd.

Keane's upcoming Canadian gigs:

December 8 Vancouver, BC - Commodore Ballroom
February 12 Montreal, QC - Metropolis
February 13 Toronto, ON - The Kool Haus
