Tin Foil Phoenix Emerge From 'The Shadow'

Published: 2004-11-22
Although their debut full-length 'Living In The Shadow Of The Bat' was supposed to hit shelves this spring, legal issues that seem to be plaguing many a Canadian act these days caused Winnipeg's Tin Foil Phoenix to push back the release until September 14th. Now that the album has finally seen daylight, the Winnipeg quartet is set to play a few dates around the country.

Tin Foil Phoenix just played the 'Hamilton Music Scene Festival' on November 20th, but the band still has 6 more upcoming dates before the year is over. The rockers will play three shows in Ontario, and one each in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Many of Tin Foil Phoenix's performances will be as opener for Thornley, except for their December 8th show in Toronto, Ontario.

The legal issues that thwarted Tin Foil Phoenix earlier this year had to do with the moniker they original had chosen for their band. Many people probably know Tin Foil Phoenix as Sonic Bloom, but an unfortunate lawsuit from a gardener (yes, a gardener) forced them to drop the name. To top it all off, Sonic Bloom had already begun pressing 'Living In The Shadow Of The Bat' when the name change came about, which explains the delayed release of the 10-track record. Luckily the members of Tin Foil Phoenix have come out of the situation fairly unscathed and are coming quickly upon a decade as a band, same name or not.

Tin Foil Phoenix's upcoming shows:

November 25 St. Catharines, ON - Big Buck's Mountain Lodge
December 2 Burlington, ON - Big Buck's
December 8 Toronto, ON - The Rivoli
December 14 Saskatoon, SK - The Odeon
December 15 Winnipeg, MB - The Pyramid
