Brian Jonestown Massacre Retrospective

Published: 2004-11-16
Today (November 16th) a career retrospective from American rock band The Brian Jonestown Massacre will hit record store shelves. The album, which is titled 'Tepid Peppermint Wonderland: Retrospective', houses two discs that spans the band's nearly 15 year existence. In addition to album tracks, 'Peppermint Wonderland' contains rarities, b-sides, and live tracks as well.

Led by Anton Newcombe, The Massacre has had nearly forty members come and go, helping to create eight albums. Known for the fairly long spans of time between each album, the band's most recent effort was 2003's 'And This Is Our Music'. Though The Brian Jonestown Massacre has had many ups and downs, the band still consistently delivers with their music.

After the extremely successful 2004 documentary 'DIG!', which follows the rivalry and relationship between The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols (more specifically their founders Anton Newcombe and Courtney Taylor), both bands have enjoyed some pretty heavy exposure. Comprised of footage taken over 7 years, Ondi Timoner's 'DIG!' is a comprehensive look into the lives of the two bands. At this time a DVD release date for 'DIG!' is still unknown.
