The Constantines Play Close To Home

Published: 2004-11-09
The Constantines have had a good year. They played across Canada and the United States in early 2004, and saw the reissue of their first album. They just played a short fall tour of the Maritimes and other eastern provinces last month, and hit All Tomorrow's Parties in LA this past weekend sharing the stage with the likes of The Flaming Lips, The Shins, and Lou Reed. And they're still not done; The Constantines are set to continue further promotion of latest album 'Shine A Light' this winter.

The five-piece is keeping close to home this time, with a six-date tour of Ontario scheduled for the remainder of November. With the first performance happening on November 18th in Sudbury, the Toronto band will head home for their final two shows, both taking place at Lee's Palace, and both on November 27th (though one is in the afternoon).

Signed to the legendary Sub Pop in the USA, and Three Gut Records here in Canada, The Constantines released 'Shine A Light' in the autumn of 2003. The 12-track album gained the five-piece even more attention, and a wider fan base (anyone who's been on the same bill as Lou Reed can't be doing very shabby, can they?). To hear clips of The Constantines' songs go the band's site at www.constantines.ca or www.subpop.com.

The Constantines' upcoming shows:

November 18 Sudbury, ON - Townhouse Tavern
November 19 Hamilton, ON - The Underground
November 20 London, ON - Call The Office
November 25 Waterloo, ON - Starlight Social Club
November 26 Barrie, ON - TBA
November 27 Toronto, ON - Lee's Palace (afternoon and evening shows)
