The Grateful Dead Movie Gets Facelift

The legions of people that can count themselves as Deadheads will be happy to note that 'The Grateful Dead Movie' can now be purchased on DVD. While many of the reels containing the footage of 'The Grateful Dead Movie' were severely damaged, the material has been fully restored for the DVD edition of the film. Released this October, the DVD launch of 'The Grateful Dead Movie' marks the 30th anniversary of the film.

The original theatrical release of the movie will appear in a 2-DVD set alongside bonus material. Included on the second of the two discs are 11 previously unheard songs, three documentaries, and a photo gallery, among other features. Once locked up in the vault of The Grateful Dead, the footage of both the movie and songs are now available to all of the band's loyal fans everywhere.

One of the longest running underground bands, The Grateful Dead were masters of their trade from the psychedelic '60s, up until the mid-'90s. Led by guitarist Jerry Garcia, a legend in his own rite, The Grateful Dead have one of the strongest followings of any band to walk this earth. Debuting in 1967 with a self-titled album that ran 9 tracks long, the rock band didn't stop creating new music until Garcia's death in 1995.
