Spoon Begin Mixing New Album

Published: 2004-10-18
The newest album from Spoon is well on its way to being in fans hands. The recording on the as-yet-untitled album is finished, and mixing is set to commence this week. With its release sometime next year, the record will mark the fifth full-length effort for the Texan band.

Although it's too early for a definite track-listing to be confirmed, the band has chosen the songs that are to appear on their fifth album. Titles of the new tracks include: 'The Infinite Pet', 'The Two Sides of Monsieur Valentine', 'The Delicate Place', 'Was It You?', 'My Mathematical Mind', 'I Turn My Camera On', 'Sister Jack', 'I Summon You', 'Merchants of Soul', 'The Beast and Dragon Adored', 'They Never Got You'.

Available on Spoon's official site (www.spoontheband.com) are demos of both 'Sister Jack' and 'I Summon You', which will both appear on the new album. Even though there have been no dates announced, fans can expect Spoon to promote the new album on tour next year.

The last album that Spoon released was 2002's 'Kill the Moonlight', which housed 12 tracks written by lead man Britt Daniel. Their debut album 'Telephono' was released in 1996, but this year marked a decade of Spoon as a band. Generally one of the most underappreciated indie bands out there, Spoon also released albums in 1998 ('Series of Sneaks') and 2001 ('Girls Can Tell').
