Unreleased Nirvana Material Available in November

Published: 2004-10-06
Although rumour of the Nirvana box-set release has been floating around for quite sometime, it's only recently been confirmed. British magazine NME reports that the UK release date of the much-anticipated set is slated for November 22nd. There is no definite word on when the box-set will be released in North America, but it will be around the same time.

The box-set has been given the working title 'With the Lights Out', and will contain three audio CDs and one DVD. There are to be over 40 songs included, and many fans are expecting to see footage of a house party Cobain and Co. played in 1987. With much of the unreleased Nirvana material set to make an appearance in the box-set, fans are anticipating alterative versions, radio footage, and demos that have been unheard by all except those present in the recording studio.

This box-set has been a long time coming for Nirvana fans. Former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic were set to put all the unreleased Nirvana material into the world in the late '90s, but Kurt Cobain's widow Courtney Love, was not. After a series of disagreements and resulting lawsuits, just one previously unreleased song ('You Know You're Right') was given to fans on the 2002 Nirvana 'Best Of'.
