The Fugees Make Amends

Published: 2004-10-05
It's certainly been a time for reunions with The Pixies and The New York Dolls among other bands, joining forces once again. The Fugees can now be added to that list, as the three-piece has been in contact as of late. Comprised of Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, and Pras, The Fugees had a most impressive line-up in the nineties, and will once again. According to Wyclef Jean there is "real good energy, good vibes" between the three artists.

Although the group is back together, fans shouldn't expect The Fugees to pop out any new records anytime in the immediate future. The trio did however, play a secret show in Brooklyn, New York in mid-September, playing fan favourites including 'Ready or Not', and 'Killing Me Softly With His Song'. Everyone in the venue was expecting a solo Lauryn Hill set, but imagine their surprise when Pras and Wyclef walked on stage.

When the reunited Fugees do finally decide to put out their next album, probably within the next year and a half, it will be their third. The group's last album was the immensely popular 'The Score'. The 1996 album has sold over 17 million copies worldwide. The year 1994 saw The Fugees debut with the 18-track 'Blunted on Reality'.

In related news, Lauryn Hill is reported to be finishing up her newest solo album. The title consideration is rumoured to be 'The Khulami Phase', and equally rumoured is the release date of November 16th. This would be Lauryn Hill's second solo effort, her first was the hugely successful and critically acclaimed 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' (released in 1998).
