Halloween in Toronto: The Used, The Bronx and Brian Jonestown Massacre

Published: 2004-09-28
Halloween could turn out to be a very exciting night for some of Toronto's music fans this year. Rocking it up at the Kool Haus are four up and coming bands, ranging from hardcore punk revival to virtual funk-punk. The most notable names on the bill are that of Utah's The Used and Los Angeles' The Bronx.

The Used and The Bronx are touring the United States together with just one Canadian stop (Halloween night in Toronto) scheduled. Still promoting their debut album, which was released way back in the summer of 2003, The Bronx is a fairly new band. Tipped to be one of the more impressive new heavy-rock acts, the four-piece had record deal offers pouring in after just two gigs as a group.

The Used are out supporting their newly released album called 'In Love and Death'. The 12-track record is set to hit shelves on this very day (September 28th). It will be the band's second studio album, their first being a 2002 self-titled effort; the Used also have a live album out, called 'Maybe Memories'.

Also included on the bill at the Kool Haus on Halloween night are Head Automatica and The Bled. Both groups have one full-length album out – Head Automatica's 2004 effort called 'Decadence' and The Bled's 2003 album 'Pass The Flask'.

Another band in town on All Hallow's Eve is California group The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Like The Used and The Bronx, Toronto is the five-piece's only Canadian stop on their fall tour, stopping in at Lee's Palace. The classic-rock inspired indie band has been together for a near 15 years, releasing 10 studio albums together in that time. The band's latest effort is 2003's 'And This Is Our Music', which boasts a full symphony orchestra.
