'Lest We Forget' Marilyn Manson

Published: 2004-09-28
Today (September 28th) sees the release what could be considered one of the most controversial set of songs the world has seen. Shock-rocker Marilyn Manson has compiled the song highlights of his oft discussed career into a best-of set entitled 'Lest We Forget: The Best Of'.

The album includes tracks from all of Manson's albums, from his debut in 1994 with 'Portrait of an American Family' to last year's 'The Golden Age of Grotesque, and all that's in between. 'Lest We Forget: The Best Of' is also available in special edition, which includes bonus DVD. The DVD includes all of Manson's music videos from the '90s, and all the shocking and controversial images they contain.

Manson also recorded a cover of Depeche Mode's 'Personal Jesus' to be included in the compilation; the single is currently playing on radio and television.

While Manson's antics are hardly shocking nowadays, when he first appeared on the music scene there was no other like him for his generation. Following the practices of shock-rockers before him, including the legendary Alice Cooper, Manson has had his share of obstacles. With protests against his concerts, and blame placed on him for others' horrific acts, Marilyn Manson has seen it all. He's been with us for more than a decade, and still continues to stir things up every once and a while.

In news unrelated to his music, Manson is set to marry girlfriend Dita Von Teese at friend and contemporary artist Gottfried Helnwein's castle.

'Lest We Forget: The Best Of' track-listing:

'The Love Song'
'Personal Jesus'
'The Fight Song'

'Disposable Teens'
'Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)

i have admired marilyn manson ever since he made his first album portrait of an american family. not for his shocking controversial music but for how he sees things that others choose to ignore. i believe he is a great smbol of individualism and the scapegoat you can become because of it.

Manson has always been able to express the side of the issue that the rest of the world has pushed away or ignored. Kudos.
