Rufus Wainwright's 'Want Two' Gets Release Date

Published: 2004-09-28
It's been a long wait, but the counterpart to Rufus Wainwright's 2003 album 'Want One' has finally been given a release date. Wainwright had said that he wanted 'Want Two' to come out before the US presidential election, but that isn't the way things worked out. The album will be available for purchase on November 16th, two weeks after the election, through DreamWorks records. The 12 tracks of 'Want Two' will be packaged along with a 20-track DVD.

The DVD that is to be included with the music of 'Want Two' is live footage from a concert Wainwright performed in San Francisco. Filmed at the Fillmore Auditorium, the disc includes performances of songs taken from both 'Want One and 'Want Two'.

With all of the tracks being recorded during the same sessions, 'Want One' and 'Want Two' were originally intended to be a double album. Plans changed when Wainwright's record company decided to release them one at a time. According to Wainwright, 'Want Two' houses the more "daunting", "operatic" and "weird" tracks he chose for the albums.

In other Rufus Wainwright news, the singer is set to appear at a movie theatre near you. Wainwright makes his acting debut this December in Martin Scorsese's 'The Aviator', starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

The track-listing of 'Want Two' includes:

'Hometown Waltz'
'Little Sister'
'The One You Love'
'An Old Whore's Diet'
'Memphis Skyline'
'Peach Trees'
'Agnus Dei'
'Crumb By Crum'
'Gay Messiah'
'The Art Teacher'
'Waiting For a Dream'
'This Love Affair'
