Fatboy Slim Readies New Album

Published: 2004-09-21
Few dance artists have had the mainstream success of Norman Cook, and even fewer have achieved the sheer length of his career. Norman Cook is still going as strong as ever and is set to release his fourth studio-album as Fatboy Slim, his first in four years.

Cook has titled the album 'Palookaville', and it's set for an October 5th release here in North America. The first single lifted off the record is called 'Slash Dot Dash', which can be heard at Fatboy Slim's official site at www.fatboyslim.net. The most unusual thing about the new single when compared to Fatboy's previous work is the appearance of live guitars. According to Cook's site the idea was to "throw in a bit of Buzzcocks and the White Stripes".

The last studio-album that Cook released was 2000's 'Halfway Between The Gutter and the Stars'. The album solidified Fatboy Slim's place in the mainstream, with standout track 'Weapon of Choice'. The video for which, featured a usually serious Christopher Walken dancing his actor heart out.

Before 'Halfway Between The Gutter and the Stars' came into the world, there was Cook's 1998 sophomore effort 'You've Come Along Way, Baby'. This was the album that really launched Fatboy Slim into the mainstream, with songs like 'The Rockafeller Skank' and 'Praise You'. 'Praise You' offered up yet another memorable video with director Spike Jonze and his posses dancing it up in a public place.
