Raveonettes Record New Album With Legendary Guest Drummer

Published: 2004-09-14
Hailing from Denmark, the garage duo called the Raveonettes stormed onto the music scene in 2002 with their debut EP 'Whip It On'. Now, two albums later, Sharin Foo and Sune Rose Wagner are preparing their next studio-album.

The Raveonettes have been in a New York recording studio since summer, and are still ploughing away at what will become their third album. The new album will be the follow-up to the duo's 'The Chain Gang Of Love' which was released in August of 2003 via Columbia records.

Reports from the studio are saying that the material the Raveonettes have amassed for the as-yet-untitled album is a step away from their previous records. Adding more keyboards and synthesizers to their fuzzed-out guitar sound, the pair has described the new songs as "spooky" and "hypnotic".

Guesting on the upcoming album is one very influential musician. While most garage bands list the Velvet Underground as an influence, very few of them actually have the chance to work with one of the members. Maureen Tucker, drummer for the legendary VU, has added her unique skills on the skins to some of the Raveonettes new songs.

No definite word on a release date, but the new album from the Raveonettes can be expected sometime in early 2005.
