The Arcade Fire Celebrate 'Funeral'

Published: 2004-09-09
Although the Arcade Fire is a relatively new act, the band's live shows are already considered legendary. That said, don't miss the chance to see the Fire live as they play a few Canadian dates to celebrate the release of their first full-length album. The album in question is called 'Funeral' and is set to hit store shelves next Tuesday (September 14th).

To ring in the release of 'Funeral' the six-piece has enough performances lined-up in Quebec and Ontario for each member (that'd be six). The small celebratory tour kicks off in the band's hometown of Montreal on September 25th, finishing in Hamilton on October 2nd.

When speaking with Soul Shine about the impending release of 'Funeral', Arcade main-man Win Butler said, "There are things that are surprising to me about the way the record sounds, but who knows what people expect?...Of course, only 1,000 people in the world have heard of us so I actually don't think anybody is expecting anything really."

Though the hype surrounding the band would suggest otherwise, people will have to wait to find out if 'Funeral' meets their expectations. Fans can get an idea of what the new album will sound like by hunting down a copy of the Arcade Fire's first release. Although 'Funeral' is the group's first full-length effort, the band released a seven-song self-titled EP last year. Four songs from the EP are available at the band's site (www.arcadefire.com).
